Either way, don't be afraid.
Either way, the result is the same.
Whether life has no meaning or has meaning, the result is the same.
Why I say this, I'll explain it in due course.
What matters is staying alive.
In effect, life itself becomes nothing more than affirming that one is alive.
All that life can affirm is that one is alive.
Being alive is the only thing that every person and every thing in the universe affirms, in whatever way.
Everyone's and everything's consciousness works in constant vigilance to affirm that they are alive.
No one stays alive because they know what they are alive for. No one ensures their survival merely to stay alive because of such knowledge.
What one lives for happens, without one even knowing it, simply by living. That is how things are.
"Masha Allah kana, wa ma lam yasha lam yakun."
"What Allah willed happened. What He did not will did not happen."
*******
That being so, why are you afraid? Why do you worry?
Whether you fear or not, whether you worry or not, what continues will continue as it is, what happens will happen as it is, what must happen will happen as it is.
All the fears, worries and efforts are like running inside a moving vehicle.
You have the feeling that everything happens because of your fears, worries and efforts, or that otherwise nothing would happen.
Whatever degree of truth or falsehood there is in the gecko's feeling that it is holding up the roof, that is exactly the degree in your feelings, fears, worries and efforts.
Because of those feelings, fears, worries and efforts, you feel that things are changing and that you are changing them.
But what changes and what causes change is life itself, which is God.
Changing and causing change go on without interruption. They are that continuity itself.
A continuity that is life and God itself.
Everything else you do and think is only what life needs, what life makes you do and think, using you as an instrument.
It is impossible for you not to do what you do and not to think what you think.
Because the intention of the one who uttered it must be fulfilled.
Every word must fulfill the intention of the one who uttered it.
Every word gives the meaning assigned to it, and will do, and will end up doing, whatever is needed to give that meaning.
"Masha Allah kana, wa ma lam yasha lam yakun."
"What God willed happened. What He did not will did not happen."
*******
Whatever you do or bring about, whether you do nothing or bring about nothing, whether you are afraid or not, life will become life, and its flow will continue.
What you bring about or don't, what you do or don't, does not affect the course of life.
It affects only your feeling.
Water will flow downward.
Water will go only forward.
Or rather, wherever the water goes, that is the forward direction, and that is down.
Turning back against the direction it is going is something water does not do.
That itself is the way of life.
So whatever obstacle there is to going forward (whether water or air), it is no obstacle to life.
Avoiding obstacles, life flows around them, as water and air do.
Life moves only forward, never backward.
"Masha Allah kana, wa ma lam yasha lam yakun."
"What God willed happened. What He did not will did not happen."
*******
Either way, you needn't be afraid.
Either way, the result is the same.
Whether life has no meaning or has meaning, the result is the same.
Suppose, first, that life has no meaning at all.
Fine.
But you needn't fear or worry that a life with no meaning gives you no sense of meaning and you can't find any.
You have no job of manufacturing a meaning and purpose that doesn't really exist, do you?
Nor do you have the job of worrying about a meaning that doesn't really exist, do you?
The other possibility is that life has meaning.
Surely a life that has meaning will have meaning in any case?
And you don't have to strive to produce that meaning yourself, do you?
The one who determined the meaning will have made that meaning happen.
However you live, that meaning will have come to pass.
You can only live in a way that lets that meaning happen, and makes that meaning happen.
Your feelings, fears, worries and efforts are all only for making that meaning happen.
That is what "Masha Allah kana, wa ma lam yasha lam yakun" means.
What Allah willed happened. What He did not will did not happen.
