When the Mughals ruled, were the Savarnas (upper castes) in alliance with the Mughals?

When the Mughals ruled, were the Savarnas (upper castes) in alliance with the Mughals?

One could say we don’t know, or refrain from saying.

But one thing is known, one thing can be guessed.

Not just with the Mughals, but with the British and every other invading-ruling power, the Savarnas have gotten along, and will continue to get along.

Once power over the country falls to an invading-ruling power, the Savarnas will be right there alongside them.

The shade of power, comfort and luxury, and the share of the spoils — these are what always matter to the Savarna.

The Savarnas will forever be, and have always been, in alliance with invading-ruling powers. No doubt about it.

Because only the Savarnas have wealth, power, dominance, and opulence to protect.

Only by aligning with invading-ruling powers is it possible to protect that wealth, power, dominance, and opulence.

Allying with invading-ruling powers is simply the easiest way to protect wealth, power, dominance, and opulence.

That is precisely why it was the Savarnas who converted in the largest numbers to the religion of the invading powers — a conversion aimed at this very protection.

Perhaps that is why Muslims in Malabar and in North India (including Pakistan) largely appear similar to Savarnas.

Since the Avarnas (lower castes) had no such wealth, power, or dominance to protect in this way, they had no reason to convert either.

Today, just as before, the Savarnas continue to implement, preserve, and maintain this same arrangement.

The same Savarna group that did not meaningfully participate in the freedom struggle can be seen remaining in power after independence. When Congress ruled India, positions of power within Congress came to be filled almost entirely by Savarnas.

One could even say that the Savarnas, who already held power and high positions during colonial rule, simply continued that easily after independence.

It could be said that this happened easily precisely because dominance, power, and protection of wealth are all that matter to the Savarnas — they have no other ideal or ideology to offer.

The only “ideal” and “ideology” they hold is caste itself, and the cunning to preserve Savarna dominance by any means.

Now, with the BJP in power, beyond even the resurgence of Hindutva, this is exactly what the Savarna is carrying out.

Beyond hostility toward Muslims and Communists — who challenged caste dominance and exploitation, and sought to abolish casteism and racial discrimination — what matters most to the Savarna is simply being on the side of power.

By remaining on the side of power, it becomes easy to preserve the dominance, privileges, luxuries, and comforts that caste superiority has historically provided.

This same sentiment lies even behind Savarna opposition to reservation (affirmative action).

What has been received must not be lost — it must keep being received, down to one’s children and grandchildren.

In other words, the exploitative, comfort-seeking mindset and taste for luxury among Savarnas has always kept them aligned with invading-ruling powers. Whether the invading-ruling power was the Mughals or the British makes no difference at all — it’s the same thing.

Isn’t it only by standing close to the invading-ruling side that one can create the “lower castes” in one form or another?

Isn’t it only by standing close to the invading-ruling side that there is a way to exploit the lower castes?

Isn’t caste and Savarna dominance a system created precisely to secure dominance for the invading power?

In that sense, weren’t casteism and Savarna dominance created solely to serve the interests of invasion and power?

Varnashrama caste system is something created solely to smoothly carry out invasion and power.
